Motor Industry Communicators Association Launched To Support Development Of Industry Professionals

Communicators of motoring news and innovation have a fresh source of support and career development from the newly established Motor Industry Communicators Association (MICA).

Inspired by the contribution which the now defunct Motor Industry Public Affairs Association brought over 50 years, MICA has founded itself on two main pillars to assist industry communicators.

Training and professional support were the target membership’s top priorities requested of its new industry body. MICA is planning both 1:1 and group development opportunities, including mentoring, workshops and seminars on topics and trends affecting all motoring communicators, as well as advice from other sectors such as legal and corporate advice from MICA’s partner law firm.

MICA’s second aim is to re-boot networking opportunities to help grow members’ professional networks, reflecting the convergence of communications specialisms working side-by-side within manufacturers, suppliers and other partner organisations, as well as supporting agencies.

Mark Harrison, inaugural MICA chair and managing director of Praga Cars UK, said:

“The increasing breadth of motoring communications roles, in an era of opportunity and uncertainty for many as the motoring world changes, made us intent on bringing back an association in MICA that represents the needs of today’s automotive communicators.”

MICA welcomes both seasoned and new PR professionals as members alike, with an accessible and flexible subscription structure spanning students and established colleagues – including benfits from the Prca.org.uk, the world’s largest association for public relations practitioners.

Subscription details are at Mica.org.uk, including a ‘founders’ discount incentive – ahead of MICA’s launch event on 22nd July at Bicester Heritage. Hosted by MICA and partners Newspress, prospective members are welcome to join any time in the afternoon for light refreshments, with a barbeque from 5pm.

MICA’s founding members, including representatives from CNH Industrial, RAC, McLaren and Ford, have formed a launch team to deliver MICA’s ambitious but achievable first year’s programme. This includes proactive working partnerships with the PRCA, Guild of Motoring Writers and SMMT.

Any PR practitioner in the motor industry interested in MICA, in taking advantage of the founder’s discount and in joining us on July 22, can mail [email protected] to be among the first to benefit from this valuable new association.

Developing the professional and social interests of its international motor industry members through discussion, training and networking events that reflect the high standards of this dynamic industry.
