New award for Young PR Professional of the Year

Young automotive PR professionals have the chance to be recognised alongside the very best in automotive writing and photography with a new award from a partnership between the Guild of Motoring Writers and MICA (Motor Industry Communications Association).

The organisations are requesting nominations from UK press offices for team members aged under 30, which requires the completion of a one-page entry form. Nominations can be requested here.

On completion of the details and submission, the nominee will receive a personalised email, copied to the proposer.

Nominees are then requested to reply to that email with the following:

  • Career details in the form of a CV as an attached PDF or Word document, or alternatively a web page URL for your LinkedIn profile or similar
  • An outline of notable achievements over the past 12 months (500 words or less)
  • How they have developed personally as a PR professional over the past 12 months, and what their future career aims are (500 words or less)
  • A discussion of the major challenges facing PR and communications in the automotive industry, demonstrating both an understanding of the changing context in which they work and the role of communications professionals in addressing these challenges. They will also describe how these challenges should be addressed, showing professionalism and innovation in their thinking. (500 words or less)

Entries will need to be submitted to the judging panel ([email protected])  by 1st November 2021.

MICA and GOMW will then work to create a shortlist of three by mid-November, and each will be invited to the GOMW Annual Dinner on 2nd December.

Representatives from MICA, the GOMW and Torque Agency will then decide the winner ahead of the Annual Dinner.

There will be free places at the GOMW Annual Dinner for the finalists, a winner’s take home trophy plus highly commended certificates for the remaining finalists.

All finalists will receive one year’s free membership of MICA.
