Deadline looms for editors seeking Guild’s Bentley Award

Guild of Motoring Writers members working in an Editor role have only three days to ensure they have a chance of winning the Bentley Motors Editor of the Year accolade in the annual Guild Awards.

First presented in 2010 and sponsored by Bentley Motors since 2019, this award goes to the editor who demonstrates they have balanced the demands of publishers and readers while nurturing journalistic talent and successfully making the critical decisions that turn a good publication into a great one.

The judges are looking for strong leadership, innovations in the approach to editing and a keen understanding of the target audience and their requirements as well as supporting the development of their staff.

In 2021 David Lillywhite took the Bentley Motors Editor of the Year Award for his work on Magneto magazine, with its high-quality design and stand-out features. David had previously won the award in 2019 and 2012.

In total there are 14 different categories to enter in the 2022 Guild of Motoring Writers Awards, with trophies and cash prizes up for grabs but entries needing to be submitted by the deadline of midnight on Friday, 30th September.

Finalists will be announced in mid-November, and the awards ceremony will be part of the Guild’s annual Gala Dinner at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, on 1st December.

The entry form, information about the awards, and the rules for entry can be found at www.gomw.co.uk/awards
